As more and more seniors are now qualifying to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, here are some important things to know:
- Medicare beneficiaries have no out-of-pocket costs for the COVID-19 vaccine.
- Medicare pays the full cost of the COVID-19 vaccine, and any associated administrative costs, for Medicare beneficiaries.
- Providers and pharmacies must bill Medicare directly for the costs of the COVID-19 vaccine, even if the beneficiary is enrolled on a Med Advantage plan.
- Medicare beneficiaries will likely be asked to present their Medicare card when receiving a COVID-19 vaccine (again, even if they are enrolled on a Med Advantage plan).
